SCHOOLS' ART COMPETITION



 

Ardis Lavelle - 2011 Overall Winner

 

Submissions are invited from young artists attending public and private schools in Antigua & Barbuda between 4 to 18 years old to capture on paper just what Antigua Sailing Week means to them. 

THEME
The words ‘LIAT’ and ‘Antigua Sailing Week’ must be included in the artwork.  Keep in mind when designing that the overall winning entry will be used as a welcome signboard at the entrance to English Harbour.

CRITERIA
Artwork must be larger than 12” x 12” to be eligible
A painted border can be used but NO frames are allowed
Artwork can be in any medium (pencil-crayons, markers, water colours, airbrush, etc.).
Artwork should be flat - Do NOT roll

CONTEST RULES
Open to all public and private school students in Antigua & Barbuda between 4 and 18 years of age.
The artwork must be the work of one student and only one entry per student.
No names or signatures should be written on the front.
Registration form must be printed clearly in ink and attached to the back of the entry. DO NOT STAPLE.

We are also introducing the ASW Schools’ Art Competition People’s Choice Awards on Facebook www.facebook.com/ASWSchoolsArt. Get your family and friends to Like our page and Vote for your submission because the entry that receives the most Likes will win an additional prize. To enter the People’s Choice Awards, take a picture of your entry and send to thalia@sailingweek.com.  The deadline for submission of all entries is 5:00 pm on Thursday 5th April 2012.

DEADLINE
All entries must be submitted by 5:00 pm on Thursday 5th April 2012.  Entries must be delivered to the Antigua Hotels & Tourist Association (‘AHTA’), Island House Building, Newgate Street. 

PRIZES
Lots of fabulous prizes including airline tickets from our title sponsors LIAT, iPods, cameras and art supplies are all up for grabs. 

ART GALLERY
Artwork will be on display throughout Antigua Sailing Week in Nelson’s Dockyard.  To reclaim your artwork following Antigua Sailing Week, it must be collected from AHTA Office between the 20th of May and the 1st of June, 2012.  Should it not be collected by the 1st of June, 2012, it will remain the property of Antigua Sailing Week thereafter.
