Spectator Schedule

When and where to find all the action.

The first race starts each day will be at 10 am off the south coast of Antigua (except for the Peters & May Round Antigua Race day when starts will be from 8 am). Each day of racing some boats will sail from Windward Beach and others will sail from Rendezvous Bay. There are excellent spectating opportunities from vantage points along the south coast and in particular from Shirley Heights, the Blockhouse, Fort Charlotte, Windward Beach, Rendezvous Beach, Carlisle Bay, Morris Bay and from various trails along the south coast. On Sunday 30th April, Shirley Heights Lookout will host its famous Antigua Sailing Week breakfast with a difference as new in 2017, English Harbour Radio will be broadcasting live from the Shirley Heights and your commentator Dick Johnson, of English Harbour Radio, will break down the on the water action as well as providing information about the whole event. An excellent local breakfast along with bush tea is available from 8 am until 11 am, and once the races begin you will be in one of the best locations on the south coast from which to view the excitement at the start lines.

 

Chase the Race by Land and Sea Tours
Apr 30 @ 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

wadadlicatsIf you’d like to get close to the on the water action during Antigua Sailing Week a number of tour boats will be hitting the water and following the courses daily. 

These tours  take you from your hotel or meeting spot along the coast line to watch the race starts and once all classes are racing you will witness boats rounding marks, hoisting spinnakers and changing tactics all in an effort to win the races.

Dress code is casual and there will definitely be a snorkel spot before lunch. Snorkelling gear is provided, but don’t forget swimwear, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen as the heat can be fierce and it’s easy to forget that you are tanning even when you are cooling off in the ocean.

If you prefer to keep your feet on solid ground then our land tour will take you to Shirley Heigths Lookout to view the races from  the best watch spot possible. Live commentary will be provided by English Harbour Radio and you get to taste a fantastic Caribbean Lunch (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) before heading to your next stop – Chase the Race Beach Party.

After watching the racing & lunch, you sail or head by taxi to the Chase the Race Beach Party Venue at a different beach each day.

Prize Giving Day 1 & the English Harbour Rum Party
Apr 30 @ 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Sponsored  by English Harbour Rum, For this day only the Prize Giving will be the Chase the Race After Party Venue, the Daily Awards location and the party of the day.

Starting at 1pm for the early birds the fun will builld into the afternoon with beach fun and music,  Daily Prize Giving will take place at 5pm, followed by live music, All day superb food and plentiful drinks will be on hand.
